| I did sell one that I bought back for way less than I sold her for. I just bought her back this last summer. But I tell everyone my babies are not auction horses. I get first option to buy them back. And this is the first one I have ever gotton back. I always go have coffee and check on all of them and take pictures. Heck they are my babies, But I have yet to ever advertise horses for sale so mine stay in the state. Is this horse your talking about any of the babies I know? | |

| aww Bluejay that sucks!
Luckily I have never experienced what your going through right now.
I always have first right of refusal on my babies and other horses I sell, but have only had one offered back to me... however they now live very far away... So if he comes back to alberta as planned. he will be mine again.
Hopefully you can get things figured out, and I hope karma bites that lady in the arse!

| I had a similar thing happen relatively recently -
I sold a filly to a friend of mine because she just wanted her SOOOO bad... The night before the filly left she says "Well, I'm going to put this filly and Minnie up for sale after they are both safe in foal...whichever one sells first can leave and I"ll keep the other one" 1) I sold her this filly thinking she was going to keep her around for a while... 2) She is breeding a TB filly (bred for 2 turns) to a QH stallion...it might work, it might not...who knows 3) She has NEVER bred mares before and jumped in with THREE this year 4) Facilities are a negative...
I just washed my hands of it - this wasn't one of my kids-kids, it was a nice little filly though...still made me mad...ESPECIALLY since I took WAAAAAAAAAAY less for the filly because she was buying it!

| I've been sitting here trying to rack my brain, but I don't think I've ever had this happen to me. I think if it were me, and I gave someone a horse, and they were selling it, I'd be a little vexed about it, bad enough seeing someone buy one of my babies for $4,500 and then turn around and sell it in less than a month for $7,500 - kinda aggravating, but oh, well.
I know one of my long friendships was broke up because of Kid - her hubby was breaking him out here, and just some things happened, they got an attitude about it, and I let them know real quick who the danged horse belonged to.
Probably best case scenario is don't do business with "friends".... and truth be known, can't all of us say we have many acquaintances, but very few "friends".

| I find many people just say what they think some one else wants to hear. Seems this repeats it's self over and over.. I had a friend who did some training on some of my horses too.. They were the only one I trusted to do an honest training program. Guess what? I got ripped off. Two of the horses I sent to them got injured. One of those injuries cost me 3000.00 and they lied about how it happened.. This person had been a friend for a long time. Well, she lost a friend and a good customer. I had several horses with her and would have continued that way had this not happened.. I guess some of the younger people coming up these days have no ethic at all. This is where I run in to this all the time.. Even my own daughter will tell you what she thinks you want to hear.. I just take what she says with a grain of salt.. I know for sure these people will be in big trouble in their life. Unfortunately they are teaching this to their children.. | |
