my boy almost a month old

Misty and Vegas are leaving tomorrow so I took some pics. He's almost a month old now. Here he is:

He is sure cute for a boy... He is going to be a very nice horse.. I bet you just love the heck out of him. And, that nice kiss for his Mommy tells me he is a good boy too..

His mommy will be glad when weaning time comes. He harasses her all the time. He's a little yellow devil.

I have two mares that cannot wait for weaning time. Even with good babies.. They are Mother and Daughter. They are great Moms but love to get back to not being bothered with a foal.. They are worry warts the first few days. Then it's come in here and play with this thing so it will leave me alone..

Misty is the same. Rowdy was a "good" baby and we loaded Misty up and took her to my brother in laws for weaning. She stepped off the trailer and never even called for him once. It was like, "Ahhh, finally I can graze in peace." He looked for her, but she was so ready for him to be gone.

I really like it when it goes that way. I hate weaning time and sometimes it brings me to tears. It can be so stressful. When our filly died I had to move mother to another stall. We put her in one with a camera so I could watch her. She did fuss a lot for about 20 minutes. I think that since there was no crying back she calmed right down and was fine.

I had a mare that had a stillborn foal a few years ago. Vet said just leave the colt there until the mare walked away from him. We did...it took a few hours. Then, we buried him. She never looked for him again. It was like she figured out what had happened and she knew he was gone.

He is still sucha a cutie, I like a solid face unless its like Blue Jays old colt Eddie. Real splashy.
