| Ok...soo you all know i think that i was riding a horse at the ranch and using him for barrel racing competitions and gymkahnas..their oldest daughter, Camran (9 years old) rides him too..well used to. Last night my sister got a call from Wendy, the wife of the ranch owner (Lawton) saying that the gymkahna dates had changed and that Lawton sold Ozzy yesterday...i started crying and went to take a shower and camran called me but i could not talk to her, she looks up to me and i had no way of comforting her. Soo..the next gymkhana is next Saturday and I don't have a horse! They told me i could ride Toad, who is a blue/red roan..hes blue in the summer and red in the winter..and that he is really fast BUT he doesn't know barrels or anything so i would have to train him. I have THREE whole days to ride him until the gymkhana...YAY! not! I am so mad, i was so close to winning the saddle in the series and now there is no possible way. I hate this industry lol, he was a finished horse that they needed to make some more room for another one to train and sell. I'll try put up some pics and vids later on today.

| wow... I am really sorry to hear this. like everything equine related, there is a lot more to running barrels or poles than people think.... I know how much work goes into training barrel/pole horses, and the problems that can arise and the time and effort that goes into fixing that as well. Honestly, My heart goes out to you. My barrel mare is just getting so that she is patterned, and if I were to lose her, It would be heartbreaking. Why didn't they give any notice to their daughter or to you? And after promoting their barrel horse (which most likely had a big part in it selling, as I would imagine even though the same horse you run it faster than the daughter), they just want you to pick up and start working on another horse? wow, just wow. 3 days isn't even enough to get some horses used to the bright colors the barrels can come in.... let alone have him patterned enough to even make a 2D run. Not very fair at all. I am sorry to hear you won't win the saddle.... after all that hard work, it would be heartwrenching... I agree with T-J, Time to ask the rents for one of your own. As for the Jackpot in 3 days.... I vote "when life hands you lemons, Make lemonade!". Make the best you can out of it. Work your darned best to get him deep in those turns, and don't worry about your time... focus on doing the best run you can on a horse who has had 3 days working barrels. I don't know what to say for the daughter.... I personally would be very upset with my parents. Let us know how things pan out! I'll be thinkin of you, and just remember its all about the fun you have and the experiences you get along the way! Even if you don't get your saddle, be happy to have one more experience to add to your belt. | |

| aw thanks Merkile! There is a lot more to it and people just say youre just running around barrels and they don't really think about it. It just like western pleasure..o youre just trotting your horse around the arena, or youre just loping him around the arena! NOT! its so hard and everything..ugh! They already said a while ago that if i buy my own horse and want to keep it there that was perfectly fine..and i'm sure i could do it for free as long as i keep training a couple of their horses at the same time, which isn't really a big deal for free board. My dad is always saying when he gets down here and has time (hes living in MN most of the time) that we're getting a barn, big riding arena, and some runs, and of course the horses to go with it I hope that happens but i don't want him to spend all that money if we are going to be moving back to MN...we're not sure yet. As for Ozzy i'm sure he went to a great place he was an AMAZING roper and i'm not sure if the guy bought him as a barrels/poles horse or for roping. I know there was a LOT of people asking Wendy about him at the last gymkahna cause they saw how great he was running for me. I'm off to the ranch in a couple hours to go try out Toad, the horse i really want to ride is injured right now so..thats out so i guess i'll try toad..for now | |

| Sorry LIL Sip.. You know, most people get horses, work with them and move on. I know you were trying to sell yours before you moved. Try to think of it as an opportunity to work with many horses. When you are ready to get another one you will know exactly what you want and can go for that.. I know that we all fall in love with each and everyone of them. But, as we change so does our needs as far as what we want to do with our horses.. You are lucky to work with so many and have all the fun and not the worry about feeding and all the other stuff that comes up.. I am sure one day you will go off to college and will not have time for this.. When you are done with that you will be very clear on what you want out of horse and what direction you will go with your own. Then and only then will you get one to keep for life.. | |

| I'm glad he's back for you. I'm working on getting Trouble ready to run barrels. I started last September, so I know how much work goes into them. 3 days would never be enough, no matter how broke the horse already is. Good luck on winning that saddle. | |
