| Well, yesterday morning the farm had its first orphan foal - mom died while giving birth after her uterine artery ruptured... Soo - since I'm the one that has been looking for a job - I was officially hired yesterday as a part-time employee of the farm... I'm the nurse mare until we can get a mare to give milk (Mr Stewart's post on this subject is now invaluable)... Anyway - little guy is doing well...and until the mare's milk comes in I have a job - heh, not much for security But oh well - I love the little dude, he is a talker! | |

| That is so sad about the mare.. I had two orphans here one time and loved it. They were not just born through and we had enough people around here to take care of them. They were on every four hour feedings.. They both drank their milk from buckets. They were a blast and so darn cute.. They grew up just fine.. | |

| I am so sorry to hear about mom. You will have to put in long hrs. but it will be worth it, when you see how the little one survives, because of you. You will be so close to this baby. I will say a prayer for you. | |

| Well - the little dude is doing great! He got his plasma today and that made him cold and he got the shivers under his blankie...BUT I got him warmed up and he drank 1.5 bottles this afternoon!!! Up from 1 bottle yesterday afternoon. Fortunately I only have the afternoon shift with him... Yesterday afternoon the night watch came on at 5:00 and I was still feeding him...they took over and he refused to nurse any more and came to the stall door nickering at me...made me chuckle...told him to go back and eat... He's healthy as can be right now though...I'll get pics as soon as I feel good about taking his blankie off...little guy just gets the shivers real easy. | |

| Ok - so I FINALLY got some pics - the weather really cooperated!!! "Henry" is my little man - he's such a ham! He leads for me and sort of for Garrett... He also picks up all of his feet and thinks its a treat to have you rub his ears! I'm gonna miss the little bugger if/when he leaves...he is definately my BOY! | |
