ALEX BAUTISTA BACK RIDING AT LOS AL
Jockey Alex Bautista, who is generally regarded as one of the top Quarter Horse pilots in the country, will be back riding at Los Alamitos effective with next Thursday's racing program. Bautista has not ridden at Los Alamitos since before Champion of Champions weekend last year due to disciplinary reasons.
A winner of more than 1,000 Quarter Horse races here, the talented rider is thrilled to have the opportunity to ride at the Orange County oval once again. "He's very excited to be back here," said April Ward, who will serve as Bautista's agent.

CARLOS BAUTISTA BEGINS SERVING SUSPENSION
August 6, 2007 – Los Alamitos-based jockey Carlos Bautista has begun serving a one-year suspension for possession of an electrical device during the warm-up period before a stakes race at Fairplex Park in September 2006.
The suspension was originally scheduled to begin last October. Bautista fought the ruling in court, but the temporary restraining order that prevented the California Horse Racing Board from enacting the penalty was lifted in Orange County superior court on July 24.
Bautista, 38, rode Royal Medallion to a third-place finish in the race in question, the Pomona Championship. He was not alleged to have used the electrical device during the race.
Through August 5, Bautista stood second in this year's Los Alamitos Quarter Horse jockey standings with 95 wins from 575 mounts. A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, he is perhaps best known as the regular rider of 2000 world champion A Ransom.
