PostSubject: The Army Men   The Army Men Icon_minitimeAugust 6th 2007, 8:28 pm

Tonight is my 8-year old stepson's last night with us before he goes back to his mother (he spent the summer with us), so I decided to take him to TGI Friday's for dinner, as it's his favorite restaurant. When we were signing our check, he said "look Mom, Army men". I looked outside and sure enough there were some men in uniform getting out of a truck. We finished up with our bill paying and went out to get in the car. Brady said "just a minute Mom". He went up to the men and stuck out his hand. "Thank you for keeping our country safe", he said as he shook their hands. Of course I bawled all the way home, seeing as how I'm getting soft in my old age anyway (see my "has this ever happened to you?" post).

RR....It sounds to me like menopause may be catching up to you. It happened to me over 10 yrs ago.

We don't have any military around here....But about a month ago I was in the line at the grocery store, at about 7:30am....I had just got off of work. I was exhausted, and my feet were killing me. There were a bunch of fire fighters..."Hot Shots" in the line. One guy ended up behind me. I told him he should go ahead of me. He was reluctant, but I insisted. He said, "Thank you". I said "No, Thank YOU"!!!!!! Those guys worked day and night to save so many homes, my own included.

I know how hard they work....I trained as an EMS smoke jumper in "88".

Yeah, that kid is really something. And I'm proud to say that all the morals and values he has, he got from Joe and myself because his custodial parent is umm...shall we say "lacking"...

I think that's great! Too bad what a very few can stir up and make feelings bad for our boys fighting to protect us all.

Yep, you've got a special one there!

I've been sitting here teary eyed all day, knowing he won't be there when I get home. We had him since the end of May, and now he won't be back until next weekend (the 18th). I kind of got used to him running out when I got home "HI MOMMA!" and just randomly coming up for a hug or kiss. He's the first kid I've ever had, and he's a pretty good one.
