Our first foal of 2010 !!

I wondered why I wasn't getting any emails from this site and realized I was not checking the right email account! Duh!..lol... We have our first foal of the season. He is a little spitfire colt. A beautiful leopard and so full of himself! He was born on the exact due date of the 22nd of last month! So good of that mare not to make me wait ;o) .. Here he is.. no name yet but working on it. Check out those chocolate ears.

Thank you! He's a little spitfire! Got him haltered today after much discussion..lol.. Here's a pic. Apologies for the mud hole. It's everywhere here. We got over 2 inches of rain overnight and lots of flooding going on too. peuww......

We have a record rainfall in Oregon for April. Now, May is just as bad.. It was even snowing here this morning..

I try not to complain about since we got NOTHinG this winter. I have lived in Oregon all my life and never seen such a whimpy winter..

Congrats on that spotted goodlooking guy. It will be fun to watch him grow.

Thanks you guys! He's as cute as he can be! We will be moving him to pasture soon. I'd like to keep him stalled a bit longer but I have other mares that are coming due soon. I'd love to watch him grow but I think we have decided to put him and his dam up for sale. It's a hard decision but we don't get to enjoy our horses as much as we used to because we have to always be doing something like hay..lol.. So we are going to drastically cut back if we can find some good homes. It's both sad and appealing because it would mean spending more time in the saddle if we ever get it accomplished!

Was up at 3am thinking my other mare was about to foal but it was a false alarm. Ugh.... Then the one who is supposed to be due the 20th is sure getting a huge bag on her! Probably going to be losing a lot of sleep in the next month or so..lol.. Next one technically is due the 7th. was hoping she'd have it this morning so I can stop worrying about it!!
