upset

im real upset,just got back from vets.My big dog Amber has bloat/Gastric torsion.I always worry about the annasetic(sp)on big dogs,its such a risk.
They will give me a call in about an hour to let me know how she doing.

Good news,she can come home this afternoon.She had to have a tube down into her stomach to relieve the gas and had her stomach pumped.This seems to have done the trick and she shouldnt need an op.

Well, I'm glad everything ended up all right. I know what gastro is, but I didn't get what the heck was going on.... just glad everything worked out all right!

Glad to hear she is doing well and didn't need surgery.

I love all animals even the ones I do not know.. I feel so bad when they are sick or injured.. Your baby is lucky to have someone who cares enough to take care of them...

I have a female black lab that looks like a male. She is like a child to me. Built like a brick house.. I love her so much. She is diabetec. I about died when she got sick.. She does not see great either (cataracts from the diabetes) but runs through this 5 acres like she see's perfectly.. She is on insulin shots twice a day now. Goes on all our trips with us.. She is a good traveler.. She is just 7 now. I hope to have many years with her...

awww poor girl sounds well loved though, My Amber is 6 and is a DOGUE DE BORDEAUX a Turner and Hooch dog,we reckon she is 1 of the biggest females in the country.We tried breeding from her few years back as she is the last in her line her mum only ever had Amber.But unfortunatly she reabsorbed them 3 weeks before they were due.we havnt tried since.

That's a bummer.. She is a nice dog.. Would be fun to see her babies. Are those a common breed in your area? Lab is very popular over here..

they are getting popular but have a long way to go before they are as popular as a Lab.Dogue`s are very expensive and unfortunalty lots of people brought them just to make money outta them.We ran the rescue side of things and we were real busy with that.They are a very large breed and people just couldnt cope with the size and the males temperment.

Thank goodness there are people like you to help these animals out. I really makes me angry that people are so stupid to take on something as simple as a pet and not be able to take care of them..

I know things can change in ones life and have a huge impact on what one is able to do.. I would starve and go naked before I would ever neglect an animal..

When I decide to take in an animal I am there for it 100% no matter what... There is no returning it.. NO MATTER WHAT They are not a blouse you changed you mind about.. I cannot imagine what that must do for their minds

I have a big dog I got from the border collie rescue. Someone got him and left him on a chain all the time.. I have him now and he will never have a chain on him again...

Seems that every breed has a rescue in the states.. Some of the rescuse around here have to have others rescue from them too.. Since I have worked in EMS I have seen things and people that amaze me. It is a very strange world out there..
