Corona Cartel Colt Tops Day One of Heritage Yearling Sale

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—SEPTEMBER 22, 2007—A Corona Cartel colt fetched the top price of $100,000 on Friday (September 21) the first day of the Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City.

The yearling, Brother Cartel, is out of the Streakin Six mare My Streakin Heart and was purchased by Sylvia Shaw Pitman. He is a brother to Have A Coronary, an earner of more than $71, 000 and finalist to the All American Futurity(G1). The sorrel colt was consigned by Henry E. Brown.

Streakin Six Cartel, also a colt by Corona Cartel, was purchased by Jose C. Angel for $95,000 from Marty Powers, Agent for Larry or Michelle Rice. The bay colt is the second foal of the grade 3 stakes winning Streakin Six mare Streakin Six Love.

A $61,000 Mr Jess Perry colt out of Rockin The Tetons was the third high seller. Also consigned by Brown, Mr Teton Jess was purchased by Ruben Garcia. The colt is a full brother to grade 1 stakes placed Jess Rock On an earner of $155,615 and Rock Solid Jess, a grade 1 stakes finalist.

"All the consignors I've spoke with have indicated they are having a great sale", Heritage Place General Manager Jeff Tebow said Saturday morning.

Through Friday's session 246 head were sold for an average of $11,366 and a gross of $2,796,036.

An near record crowd was on hand for the opening day sale with attendees enjoying the new improvements and updates to the Oklahoma City sales pavilion. A large number of horsemen enjoyed food and entertainment on Thursday evening.

The second session of the sale will kick-off today (Saturday, September 22) at 10:00 a.m. and will feature hips 318 through 634.
