PostSubject: Help!   January 14th 2008, 10:17 pm

can anyone tell me about a TB mare named Katrina? She was foaled in 1988 she is by On to Glory and a Hagley mare named Around the Bend. My friend was offered a yearling and asked my opinion. Since I wasn't familiar with the mare I thought maybe I could find help from some of the experts on bloodlines, any help will be greatly appreciated! The yearling is out of Cheaten Jess by Jess Special.

Can't help you too much on the TB at the moment...
One thing I can tell you is I would guess that she is owned by Guy Rogers as he owns Cheaten Jess AND one of the TB stallions she was bred to.
No produce record I know of.
Cheaten Jess had an 81si and 1third in 3 starts at 2 - stands for $750 but min bid at TQHA is $375.

Will get more info to you when I have it.

Thanks Kidd I appreciate the help. Let me know if you find out more, I'm wondering since the mare is older if she has produced any runners?

I couldn't find a blessed thing...
I don't have access to the TB program right now (I might sometime in the next couple of days).
Here is what AQHA had to say:

Not a whole lot to go on...unless it is one heck of an individual and your friend just has to have it, I'm not really sure I'd even mess with it (even free) as a race horse...maybe barrel baby? (except they can turn their noses up quickly at appendix papers...not always but I have seen it happen)

Thanks again Kidd. I didn't think that the yearling would have much promise on the track, maybe my friend could take up roping instead!

Yup - roping can be good!
One thing I REALLY like about QHs instead of TBs is it seems a lot easier to sell them if they can't run - especially gelding!

Even sound TB geldings can be hard to find a home for (unless you have an in with some eventing folks)...

I've had some QH geldings that were "ify" in the sound dept that have found GREAT homes at decent prices (obviously with absolute full disclosure).
